    Russian Twister slugs

Loaded up some of these babies to test tomorrow. Three lots using 800X, Longshot, and Herco. This is best powder coating job I’ve done.

I put the slugs in a ziplock bag with some airsoft Bb’s and then put them in my brass vibrating tumbler for 15 mins. Came out so good, looks like I painted them. As always, I’ll report back with results.

I’m interested to see a accuracy test vs Brenneke, factory loads. Thankfully my slug days are done.
I still have 3 slug guns and a few hundred slugs. I went through slug making, casting and loading for a good 40 yrs. Shot in slug matches and killed deer with slugs. I quit with rifled barrels and sabots. Last 10 years or so the HD/ Combat shotguns have people shooting everything they can get through a bore. My point is, what is the point?

    Beautiful coating!

I have the same slug (under a different name that I forgot) from Svarog. Accuracy was normal or better @ 35 meters. To me that is five holes in 3".

I wonder what these slugs are for,big varmints,eh?

Similar slugs I cast (Svarog Szerboy) I shoot same hole at 50 yards. A lot of my cast slugs shoot MOA or a little better at 100 yards. I kill a lot of boar a year and like to get creative.

    So that’s my point.

    I’ve always used pure lead.

With pure lead do the petals normally stay attached to the base when penetrating an animal?

They tend to stay together with pure lead. If you want that buckshot-like effect, alloy them harder.

Here’s a recovered botfly. Max expansion was 1.26”

Have you considered adding more tin to help hold things together. If the petals stay attached, I think they would be more effective.

using tin is the only way I can get good fill out with my savarog mold, but I am using wheel weights.

Crazy accuracy. But yes,Zveroboy, that is the name.

I only have one 12 gauge shotgun, it has (bad) open sights so grouping past 50 is a bit of a challenge. A short cyl barrel Benelli M3 Super 90.

    I have more 20 gauges, I get 4" @ 75 m with a certain 20 gauge RB / rifled choke / 870 / red dot -combo.

The "point" might become painfully evident by next week,,, like next Wednesday. (Nov 4) Same reason that there was 650 people getting training at Front Sight last week, and over 1000 this week.

Loading your own is about the only way to guarantee an ammo supply right now. If you haven't tried to buy Regular Shotshells recently you might be in for a big surprise. I was in a Walmart in Las Vegas last week two nights in a row. the first night the shelves were well stocked and I bought 4 boxes of Win#8's to shoot at my Class. The next night the Shelves were empty!

Things are happening right now and it will be interesting to see how it all turns out. If Trump wins, and the left thinks it is a winning strategy to come to loot my house, They will be in for a big surprise. I will shoot Looters and really I can't understand why more people aren't doing this to protect their stores.

CA has many problems but we still have "Castle Doctrine."

On another note: Leon actually hunts with his shotguns, so coming up with the best possible loads is something he enjoys doing.

I have never had a problem killing deer with slugs. We were forced to use slugs until about 5yrs ago. We were always looking for the ultimate slug gun and slugs. Not only hunted with them but shot in slug shoots all the time. I found that the average gun, Rem 870, 1100, 11-87, Moss & Wins will shoot 3” at 100yds/ 5 shot with Foster slugs. Brn A5 a little better and Ithaca 37 Deerslayer was best out of box. You do have to find the brand your gun likes. On average all guns shot the Brenneke slugs better than Fosters. I cast Foster and Lyman slug. Roll crimped, loaded in sleeves
used various wad and powder combinations. Cut down about every kind of shotgun you can name.
installed sights or D&Ted for scope. I came up with some loads that equaled factories, but don’t think I ever exceeded them.

What BHN approximate are your wheel weights? My mold is on the way and have WW 15, and range scrap 11 and wonder if any would perform differently. Since these are basically full bore slugs what do you guys think the top end BHN that the bands will still compress/swag down?
