    Just a picture...

    Lyman 311284 @ 215.5gr and a Lee 501-440 @ 459.6gr...lubed with a custom colored Carnauba Red

Molds, lube, and copper checks were all bought from members here.

Awesome! I can’t wait to get started casting . I picked a bad time to get into it with all the backlogs on orders.

Nice. If you don't mind helping me with a couple measurements, what is the 311284 length from base to crimp groove, and base to top of the first grease groove?

Rightbrained, What calibers you going to cast for you reckon?

Base to crimp groove is about .565 and base to the top of the first grease groove is about .250.

These were measured with my caliper by my eye...I’m a 20+yr veteran in machining and mechanical design, so “by my eye” is gonna be pretty dang close.

Preciate it. I think you measured the wrong crease groove. The one right below the crimp groove is what I'm looking for.

That groove (2nd from the base, right below the crimp groove) is about .430.

Preciate it. I'll figure some stuff and see if it'll suit me.

I know what you mean. I'm a finish carpenter. Been doing it 20 years myself, I can eye a board or a saw right where it needs to be. You get a feel for it after a while.
