cast in 22TCM

Getting ready to load some 37 gr GC for 22TCM. Any one have any info on where to start? Like to get it to cycle a 5in 1911 R I pistol

That is good. You will need to get up there in velocity to cycle the action.
You also have to be careful with the small cases.
Best thing to do will be starting low; even if you have to initially cycle the action until you find the point when it will cycle itself. Check for signs of pressure or unusual things as you up the load at small increments.

I have been loading them for a good while. If you are not PC'ing them, fit will be king. I have been shooting the Lyman 225438 at 44 grains and the MP 225-640. Both work very well. I have had great luck with 2400 and LilGun running up to about 1840fps with 9.5 to 9.6 of LilGun with the 39-40 grain MP.

It is a picky little round... you can get to hot very quickly, when working up the load I would not ladder by more than .2 grains. Watch for things going critical like sticky extraction, case face damage, extractor imprints. Mine is a 4.5" version. I do not go for max heat, I am looking for accuracy and reliable feeding.

Have fun, this is a fun and rewarding little round to load.

Where would 2400 start at? I dont have any Lil Gun may have to get some as I see it being used a lot. I have H110

I will look at my notes in the morning. My short barrel really did not do well with H110/296.

I don’t know if it makes any sense to use data from other cartridges with similar performance and sizes. The 22 Hornet, 5.7x28 FN, etc.
I reload for the 5.7x28FN and I used (at my own risk) data from 22 Hornet because there was no load info for the 5.7x28 at that time. It did work for me but every gun is different and you would have to make your own decision on that (disclaimer).

I had one when they first came out and shot quite a few of the 225438 with WIn 296 with good success. I also got the rifle when they finally came out and never had any success at all with it. With anything. I’ll look and see if I can find out how much 296 I used. Pretty fun round, but I got tired of chasing my brass.

DresserDan, I would start about 9 grains of 2400 with a 44 grain bullet. It will be to light, but as a said earlier this round gets hot fast. I load for mine and 2 others and they are each different as to what they will cycle and feed and when they get to hot.

I started at 10g with 296 / H110.
10.8g 296 seems to be my sweet spot.
Just got a 36g HP, that's the next experiment.
I powder coat larger boolets, not sure if I want the fuss with the tiny slugs.

I pc my 22's only... But, shooting in some pretty hot rounds. TCM and Fireball. I have never seen my Fireball bench gun come out so clean, even with jacketed rounds.
