What are those brown critters that taste good and have horns? I seem to remember seeing them in the past.

Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching.....
And Christmas..... let Cluck and Gobbles know they are invited to dinner.

Those kinda friends are always welcome! Notify us when the brown leather bag with horns stops by, haven't seen his photo at the social event yet.
Might be in my freezer from a cross bolt
seen a few in my back field, they were coming up out of the creek bottom and I watched because I just like having them around, well they just kept coming, lost count at 50, thats the most I've seen together around here in awhile.
if you are ever being chased by a taxidermist, don't play dead
Friends like that should be invited to dinner, just sayin!

I have about 20 visiting regularly and I am not feeding them like one of my neighbors used to.

In the north part of the city where I live, they are a problem. Gobblers chase mailmen or even housewives. I think it's due to a lack of labs up there.
I wish I had that problem. I've been trying to get in front of a turkey for days now. They are so unpredictable in the fall. One day they are out in a corn field, the next they go to some guys back yard. I'd guess I see 50 deer to every 1 turkey.
I see more turkeys in the fall than I do deer but down here we don’t have a fall turkey season.
Yeah, there are no shortage of Turkeys here like there was in the 70’s but the state has never given us in the southern part of the state a fall season.
As hard as it is to believe I watch turkey and quail while waiting on deer that are almost totally nocturnal until the rut.
Hey Rightbrained; Are you hinting about a light or maybe night vision?
No sir, not at all. I have never once hunted at night.
I will say this though . If I wanted to shoot a deer at night it would be easy . They eat acorns from an oak next to my yard light. I don’t care to shoot one like that .
After reading my post again I see why you took it that way . What I meant was that I sit there waiting but they don’t show up until after dark most of the time and I’m long gone by then.
Here is one I have fattened up with peanut butter this year . They love it .
You might also try rubbing "apples" on your outside clothes and boots. We use "wind fall apples" from area trees. The ripper the better. Corn crunchers track us. Have to give peanut butter a try also.

Male Guanaco out in dry lakebed at 10,800 feet south of Arequipa.
Might have to try the apple scented clothes. We don’t grow apples because the climate is too hot but I know the deer eat the store bought ones I’ve put out.
Just jerkin your chain, the door was open.
Back in September when the apples were falling, I picked a whole bunch up, and dumped them in a pile with a camera watching. After 2 weeks, only a single deer ate some. Dozens walked right on by, never giving them a second look. Instead, they preferred to take a single bite of each tomato in the garden. The deer are getting into pre-rut here. If I bow hunted, I could have taken a healthy 8 point buck that has been passing by a stand every day 30 minutes before dark for about a month. Still no turkeys in person, or on camera for the past 2 weeks, just a whole lotta "should have been here yesterday." Hopefully with this snow I can figure something out this weekend.
