Finally made a sizing die stuck case remover

So I went and did something stupid, even knew it was stupid when I did it.
Tried to resize some lubed but already resized .223 cases, just needed to close the case mouths up, they had been over expanded.
Not enough lube left, first case got stuck.
And I could feel it as I started sizing, but went for it anyway, all I needed to do was close up the case mouth a little.
Not like I was resizing the whole case.

So a quick trip to the store for a 10/24 tap and bolt plus digging out a washer and socket from the spares pile and I now have my very own stuck case remover.

May I never need it again.

Plus I just ordered another bottle of Dillon case lube, mine is old and getting low.
Man even that stuff is hard to find right now.

Bag balm, Sno Seal, mink oil all work well

    Dillon case lube works fine.
    When you use it!

I should have not been lazy and just relubbed the cases.
But I just wanted to quickly try a couple out.
I knew better, but payed the stupid tax.

Maybe I should keep another type of lube around for these quick jobs where I don’t want to wait for the DLC to flash off.

I do that exact thing by keeping a tin of Imperial Sizing Wax around if I just need to do less than 10 cases.

Too bad I just placed a couple of orders.
I will have to add some normal lube to my next order.
Or just pick up some bag balm, dry winter skin is just around the corner.

Years ago, when I worked in a machine shop, I made two stuck case removers. Even knurled the OD. Thankfully, to this daye I have never had to use them. They are still hanging in the ziplock bag I put them in, along with allen head cap screws,, and allen wrench.

When I started reloading in, L.A., there were not a lot of places to find reloading supplies. I had read, many years ago, of boot dressing with lanolin worked OK as a case lube and on one trip to Walgreen's I found a tin of Mink Oil Boot Dressing Cream. Tried it and it worked quite well. Easy to apply, not real messy, and comes off easy. That was 30+ years ago and I've used it since, not one problem with sizing anything, and I'll occasionally use some as a general lube. I'm tempted to make a stuck case removing tool, but haven't needed one in 30 years, so I just keep putting it off...

A buddy I worked with in Crescent City talked me into mixing lanolin and rubbing alcohol. It worked okay but wasn't flipping my switch. I went back to vegetable oil, shaking the brass in one of the plastic nut container with a screw lid. Dawn soap makes quick work on the vegetable oil and its not as hard to get that oil off compared to the whole lube pad sizing oil. Besides, I'm a cheapskate and I always have vegetable oil around.
