    The reloading bench.

Sorry for being away for a while. Covid, work, getting ready for another deployment a few personal issues. I havent had time to shoot But that didn't mean I stopped with the sport. So here is what I was up too.

First picture is my ammo computer made from an old TV and Raspberry. Still a work in progress but as of now you can see two usb cameras at the same time to watch the primer pockets and powder. Couldnt get two usb cameras to work at once on my laptop. Programing is very confusing. I am trying to learn coding but it isnt easy. Hope to expand it to add powder level and primer monitoring functionality and round counting. My brain hurts from researching and learning and i still dont know where to begin.. And now I have my reloading logs and notes also at my fingertips tips atleast.

Finnaly after a year got that dang case and and bullet feeder working. So funny story.... it was the motor coupler I printed the whole time.... print that at 100%. Or else the wear out quicky. If you have a motor with a brake and you can turn the plate by hand then your coupler is worn as it shouldnt move....

Designed a hodge podge coupler for the case feeder. Took a few different designs but works reliably now. I suck at 3D designing stuff but I am starting to get good at tinkercad. I am an electrician by trade and suck at mechanical things..... like bad.... hence it took me a year to get it working lol. But I figured it out. Lol

After either building a press monitor system or learning how to add it to the raspberry pi. I think my next project will be to design a bullet feeder attachment for my Lyman Luber sizer. Unless someone has started that I am curious. That way the open bullet feeder can feed my luber sizer. Yeah yeah, I can't afford a star.

And yes thats my living room and wife isn't happy.... told her we need a house so I can build a man cave. All ready got it designed.

    A video of it all.
Sorry about the crappy video. And yes my press is broken. When I out the ram back together the index was off. I broke the a few pieces. Need to order them. Got a 1000 rounds of 9mm. So its okay.

It does seem like overkill, but interesting stuff to learn for sure.

Overkill on the ephemerals, underkill on the actual bench but if it works-great. Guess you just watch the monitor and operate the press handle. Interesting take on the operation of a reloading press.

Just think what kind of stuff you have if you had a man cave he has wife limits now and I say they are pushed to the max. Very cool way of making things work with limited funds I like it.

Maybe overkill. But I dont miss a messed up primer or under charged. Wife doesn't mind the projects. She said she likes my happy dance when I get things working.

I am actually an AE. We are better than ATs lol.

I have seen hundreds of reloading setups and almost none are the same. Everyone seems to customize their setup ( and they should) to their style and preferences of reloading and shooting. Life would be awful boring if we all did the exact same thing. Nice setup !

I don't mess up primers and I also double check all my charges cases for charge levels. Your stuff just seems way too complicated!
