    .22 rifle project

I was recently gifted a .22 LR barreled action.
Weatherby XXII semi-auto made by Beretta of Italy.
I bought a couple magazines (1 five round and 1 ten round) not cheap.
Searched the internet for stocks to no avail. I did find a couple tube fed stocks for $250 each.
I decided to carve out my own stock. I had a couple planks of walnut a friend gave me sometime back.
I will try to post some pictures of journey.

Sounds like a great project. Making a stock is a job that can be very rewarding, hope it’s fun also !

Watching this! The Weatherby .22 was the Golden Fleece of autoloader. 22's to this kid way back when. I finally got to shoot one as an adult courtesy of my wife's eccentric wealthy uncle. He asked me to use it to de-reptile the pond by his house, and it was perfect in all ways. His was the tube fed version with the equally classic Redfield 3/4" .22 scope.

I was asked how I got the template.
For anyone curious This is what I did.

I taped a couple pieces of Scrap paper together that I got from a HF floor mat package.
Flipped it over so I had the white side to work with.
I have an old JC Higgins .22 rifle, I think it is actually made by Marlin.
I simply traced around the stock to get my basic pattern then cut it out.

    More difficult than it looks.

I have an old Anschutz repeater from the early 60’s that needs a new stock. Wish I could do half as good a jobs you have.

    Well done.

I'm pretty sure you could do as well, it just takes patience.

I just don't seem to have the ambition to go out and shoot my creations.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments.
The hardest part was inletting the stock, lots of contours.
I used a Precision Mathews PM-25MV mill to do the bulk of the work.
I got a little gung-ho and went a little to far and had to make a patch, only shows on the bottom and pretty unnoticeable, of course I know its there.
A lot of chiseling, planeing and sanding.
The butt plate is a piece of walnut painted black.
The white line between the stock and butt plate is a piece cut out of a plastic license plate that had the local car dealers name on it.
