I hope you folks can help me(I have been told I am beyond help). I have a chance to buy an 1884 Trapdoor in 45-70. I am not that familiar with trapdoors. I have shot other folks rifles and think I would like to have one of my own. What does one look for in a trapdoor?
The one I am looking to buy has been in the sellers family for a long time. The current owner hasn't shot it. Any suggestions on what to check out will help. I can check the bore condition, wood etc. but what specific things does one look for in one of these rifles.
Thanks,
Randy
