.375 H&H Mold

I recently acquired one of my grail guns, a Ruger No. 1 in .375 H&H. Lee makes a .379 mold at 250 grains I could size down a few thou with some effort. NOE makes a 329 grain design that looks like it would thump. Accurate has almost too many designs to choose from. I'm looking for something in the 250-300 grain range for plinking or hunting. Anyone have a favorite mold?

I have a recently acquired CZ 550 Safari Classic in .375 H&H mag. I have tinkered just a bit with paper patching the Lyman 375499 (264 gn) and it has shown good promise. Just shooting iron sights for now, but plan to scope this rifle and continue load testing.

I've seen quite a few people recommend this mold. I'll probably go with it or a clone! And the Lyman 50th has data. Now I just need brass.

375449 is just like the RCBS 35-200. If you don’t start w/ it you will eventually end up there. I don’t shoot my 375 H&H much. But when I do it’s the 375449.

Also, before you start sizing those cast bullets down, do a pound cast of your chamber and the unrifled portion ahead of the case mouth before the rifling starts. The .375 H&H has a long freebore and you want to size your bullets to fit that. In most rifles you can use #375449 as-cast and unsized from wheelweights, about .379" diameter, and then just tumble-lube in Lee Liquid Alox or LSStuff 45-45-10 and load 11-13 grains of Bullseye, Red Dot or 700X. Use NO gascheck, Use NO filler. Standard primers, and it will shoot well, hit close to the sights at 50 yards using a 200-yard zero for full-charge hunting ammo and be REALLY fun to shoot.

Ballistics approximate a .38-55 black powder load.

I've got mine in a Zzk602 BRNO she a real sweetheart to shoot,tried to find it in a ruger KS1 but could'nt so settled for runner up. I think its gonna be a real moose/bear puncher

RCBS 37-250- FN is an excellent boolit for the .375 in my opinion; I have used it in both my
M 700 and M 70 Win.

I don't think NOE makes it any more , but they did have a 278gr boolit and one around 320. I have shot the lighter boolit in my #1 and it shoots very well. The heavier one is a lot like my BRP 310gr boolit and that one shoots extremely well.

I have used both the Lee and the RCBS 250gr GC, I found the RCBS to be the better in my .375 Whelen. Regards Stephen

I don't have a .375 H&H, but I do have a Marlin 336CB in .38-55 and four molds for it. I think most of the molds meant for the .38-55 would be suitable for most uses in a .375, especially in a single shot where you don't have to worry about feeding.

375449 is my "go to" mould for My M70 three six bits. I've three basic loads; one for big game practice and hunting which I push it to 2300+ fps, one at 2150 fps which is a good practice/hunting load and one for smaller game at 1800+ fps. I'm working on developing a small game load with the PB'd 375248 cast soft at 1050 - 1200 fps.

I've killed a few Ptarmigan, grouse and rabbits for the pot with a 375 RB over 4 gr Bullseye for 900 fps.

I size the bullets at .377 which is .002" over the groove diameter of my M70 and fits the throat.

That's great info. I'll probably slug the bore this weekend to get a measurement. I'm hoping the mold (Beagle was nice enough to sell me a 377449) drops right on the money so I don't have so size.

I called my Flight Commander and was like "Hey man, I'm not flying till this afternoon, you need me in the office? No? I'll be in at 1."

Drove 3 hours to OKC and back on a Tuesday to snag it. Absolutely worth it.

It actually casts at about 280gr so I’m using a grain less Varget than I use for 300gr jacketed loads and getting sub-2” groups at 100 yards with my peep sighted Mauser bolt gun. Few animals are going to shrug off a good hit from that.

Oh that hurts! OKC is in my back yard! Several months ago I found one in Dallas, of course I didn’t have money at the time.

I have located a Browning in 375 H&H . It's been used some , probably 20 yrs old or more . Looks in great shape . $800+ . I don't know if that's a decent price or not . I invite response . Regards Paul
