Looking for info on kevlar gloves...

Years ago, someone here gifted me 2 pairs of kevlar sleeves. They have not fingers, only palm protection and a thumb hole to keep them in place. I use them when casting for protection of my hands and arms. I know, no protection for the fingers. If I avoid being stupid, I avoid getting burnt. With the arthritis in my hands not having the finger tips is a plus. I see them on Amazon and such, but I am not sure if they are all created equally. The ones I have, have been washed many times and have held up well. But, I am starting to wear the palms out simply because of physical abrasion. I would like to replace them, but there are no markings at all on them...

If the person that gave me these is still here... can you tell me a brand or anything more than yellow kevlar gloves?

    Thanks Matt

The fingerless kevlar gloves are primarily used in retail grocery and deli prep, commercial fishing and meat cutting.

Military issue Nomex pilot's gloves give better flash and burn protection, but are not as cut resistant.

If you want cut resistant full hand protection get NFPA rated kevlar rescue gloves.

Not looking for cut resistant, use them for casting and splash/hot mould resistance.

Dad used to work at DuPont with the Kevlar team and we had tons of DuPont made Kevlar gloves floating around (even had some of the black ones that they didn’t make for too long) but I can’t say I’ve ever seen any sans fingers.

I know there are some available that are similar heat resistant gloves that feel like Kevlar but don’t have the tensile strength but make up for it in additional heat resistance. These can be found at local food supply places for $5-$15 and you could just cut the fingers off. Good up to 500deg if that’s hot enough for you. (Not enough to hold a hot mold for too long but enough to protect your hand from a splatter. They are natural fiber too cause they don’t melt they burn.

Or just get some HF welding gloves and do the same?

welding supply places have all kinds of gloves that are made just to protect you from hot metal. you can try different sizes and see what you like.

These are more like sleeves that 1 would pull a glove over.

If you want gloves with fingers, look up "ove glove".
    Like Outpost75 said,
what you want is nomex, which is heat/fire resistant, not kevlar, which is cut/penetration resistant.
