    45 colt vrs pig

I have been try to get a pig with my henry big boy. yesterday about 6 30 pm the hogs came in one big and three smaller ones. I took a smaller one about 75 pounds give or take. I took it with the lee 255 gn rf, powder coated with smokes cear and propelled by 18 gn of 2400. The shot hit behind his left shoulder and came out near the end of his rib cage. The hog fell over and squealed for about 10 to 15 seconds. The hogs were about 55 yards a way. maybe a deer next month. I almost hate to tell every one what I love about the henry is it reminds my the bb gun I had a kid fit and handling is great.

Congratulations! My favorite hunting load for 45c is 18.0 grains of 2400 with a noe 454-280 wfn.
Due to the price of primers, warning shots will no longer be given!

I’ve taken quite a few pigs with the Lee 255 RNFP, both pistol and rifle. Lost count of the deer that have fallen to the Lee Bullet. The large meplat is a thumper for sure

Did just fine in a M92' over 9 gr of old Unique with the 454424 NOE version and the 452-255 @265 gr from the stench of burning hair to 47 yd .

    Good morning and Congratulations !
I recon persistence pays off again . That 18 grains + the Lee 255 has gone through all our modern 45 Colt lever rifles and Rugers.

I’ve been using the 255 RFN for over 40 years, one of my favorites in my various .45 LCs. While I’ve also shot game with the 280 WFN and 300 LFN LBT bullets, they did nothing better than the Lee did.

Way to collect some great eating. The longest range deer I have shot with handgun was with a 260 rnfp out of a 1884 mold over 18 grains of 2400. Broke near sholder destroyed everything in the chest and went out behind far sholder. Deer was DRT. Your rie and load will be a deer killing machine for you.

I think that the smoke color is critical here, just the intimidation factor.
