.357 Sig and 161 gr bullets

Has anyone personally loaded heavy cast bullets for .357 Sig? I have some Lyman 358156 gas check bullets sized to .355, and would like to try them in a .357 Sig handgun. The bullets actually weigh out at 161 gr. There is load data on 147 gr bullets but I can’t find data for the heavier bullet.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

I have not but if you get good neck tension, why not? I've loaded 160-1665gr in 9mm, so it should work. You will of course be on your own for load data. I would go with 147gr starting data & gently work that up, what I did with the 9mm. A chrono is kinda important when working without book data.
EVERY GOOD SHOOTER NEEDS TO BE A HANDLOADER.

You can cross-reference to .40S&W data with the heavier Sig projectiles. Just start low, seat projectiles as long as will feed reliably in your pistol, and take steps to mitigate bullet setback.

What kind of velocity did you get with the 1665 gr loads. LOL.

It is quite common in Australia, we have to use 357 sig for IPSC major power factor.

    Some of us load 185's.

Im using 5.7 grains of ADI AP70 or WSF with 160 grain round nose hitek cast bullets. I load them to 31.3mm. These make about 175 power factor out of my STI.
