    Primers

What if any, is the difference between Winchester muzzle loader primers and regular 209 shotgun primers.

The muzzleloader primers are not as "hot" as a regular 209. They were developed to help eliminate the "crud ring" that seems to plague some inline muzzleloaders. Personally, I've not had that problem with my rifle so can't give first-hand info on effectiveness.

About 4 bucks is the only difference i noticed. I use the CCI 209 primers in my inline. They have been working well.

In the Knight Disc rifles I have and the Savage 10-ML had I used CCI209M primers with great results .

At present I'm using a Remington 700 Ultimate ML and that one uses a brass case with a LR primer but I've still got the 45 and 50 Disc rifles I shoot from time to time .

Personally I use Federal's in my Lyman Mustang. But..how do you suppose these would work in a shotgun shell?

In about forty years of loading shotgun shells I’d never used a Federal 209A however a friend gave me a thousand earlier this week . So I plan on trying them .

The muzzleloader 209 are A different primer mix then regular 209’s for a shotgun shells I think the muzzleloading 209’s also throw more flame than a regular 209
