    Mold arrived a day early.

Mold with the insert in place for the hollow base:

    View of the cavity:

Not pretty because I cast them quickly from a cold mold. 107gr (around 1/4 oz) and .410" dia at head and skirt.

Brass cases arrived and they fit:

Now just waiting on the wads and we should be up and running with experimentation.

Wads finally arrived today - a replacement from MidwayUSA, as the location of my original shipment is in dispute between UPS and USPS.

    I have to admit I have no idea what powder-charge I'll use - I have H110 and L'il Gun.

I finally had a little time, so I'm developing the initial .410-bore slug loads and going slowly.

Each additional 0.5 grains of powder raises the slug inside the case quite visibly:

The setup inside - powder, over-powder card, 3x 1/4" cushion wads, slug, overshot (or overslug, in this case) card - sealed with hot glue:

Just curios but was this a hollow base WC? With needing it weight forward for a smooth bore, just wondering if a hallow base wad cutter would work more like a slug/wad combination

Greetings AndyC, great pictures to back up your post and for us to visualize things far better. I would only change for plastic OP wad for far better obturation and therefore even reduce the powder charge by .5 to 1 gr after using that.

    Thanks for sharing it.

Looks good! For size comparison I'd really like to see one of your .410 Lyman Slugs next to a 12 ga Lyman Slug?

    Thanks, Randy. I don't have a Lyman 12-ga slug, but here's this slug next to a .22LR:

Plastic wads will be next once I find a safe load with these fiber wads.
