Since my best groups are still over .300” I’m no accuracy expert and this is second hand information. The shooters that are experts claim that there is no benefit to cleaning primer pockets unless you’re shooting 1000+ yards or itty bitty groups at 100. By all means, clean them if it makes you happy. I do plenty of things that aren’t absolutely necessary because they float my boat.

Not only do I not uniform handgun primer pockets, I don't even bother to clean them. Mine get de-capped in station 1 of my press then immediately re-primed in station 2. The bottom of the primer pocket might see daylight for a max of 5 seconds.

Great advice previously to skip the uniforming step. And I'll second (third) the motion that Starline makes excellent brass!

The cases that I do consistently uniform the bottom are Win/WCC/WMA 223 cases. With CCI 450 primers, the pocket is too shallow. Even bottomed out, they stand wver so slightly proud.

Have a K&M Primer Pocket Correction Tool, and looked at the info sheet with it- and noted it is a large rifle primer size... the sheet notes they make a large rifle- set to cut a pocket to .131" deep, and a large pistol size- set to .122". Also a small rifle/pistol tool, set to .122" deep.
This caught me by surprise, as I didn't realize there was a difference in primer pocket depth in a large pistol and large rifle case.
Loosened the cutter setscrew, to see if I could shorten the depth up to the .122" depth, but the cutting tool was already bottomed out in the holder. Confirmed the cutter depth is at .131" deep.
Started looking online for a large pistol pocket tool, and not finding much... everyone seems to treat a large primer pocket the same when it comes to primer pocket tools.
Does .009" matter that much? I tend to be on the anal side when it comes to doing things the right way...
    Thoughts please?
There is a reason it’s hard to find a primer pocket uniform tool for LPP‘S, it’s just not needed.
