Hello from a new forum member

Hello everyone. I’m Mike, and it’s finally time to start casting.
I recently converted an old 11mm Gras Vickers Machinegun over to 45/70 and if I don’t cast, this will be damned expensive. I’m looking foreword to this new experience. Although I’ve been a reloader for 20+ years, I’ve never cast.
Thanks in advance for any help, and if I can help anyone please let me know.

    Hi Mike,
And welcome to CB! I own several .45-70s, and you are absolutely correct. If you don't cast and reload, it would be crazy expensive to shoot that marvelous old cartridge.

    Welcome.

I learned early on, casting is the only way I can afford to feed my .45-70 lever action.
In school: We learn lessons, and are given tests.
In life: We are given tests, and learn lessons.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Mike, looks like bullet casting for the 45/70 Vickers is definitely in your future. Loved the victory dance. Frank

Wow, that's a quick way to drop $20. Very cool. Yep, you'll find that those 400 and 500 grain boolits will add up too. That is the fastest way to drain a melting pot. Looks like great fun. Welcome to the board. By the way cool video's.

Nice thing about the .45-70 is you can go anywhere from mild to wild.

Lead will add up if your running it through a Machine gun, best stock up on it.
Welcome to the community. You should fit in well here.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

Welcome to this great site. You can dance and you have a super cool gun. Once you get your cast boolet to your satisfaction, you can really rock! I'm sure the good people here will be of help.

    Welcome to CB

I love shooting 45/70 but I HATE wasting/throwng away lead so I built a boolit trap to trap my 45/70 boolits.

You will want to figure a way to recover your lead or find good sources of lead.

with a 500 grain boolit you get 14 shot to the pound 340 grain -- 20 boolits per pound
