I have created the illusion of having it together by keeping things very organized. A place for everything and everything in it's place. I am very careful about not setting things down until it is going where it belongs. Still can't find things!

my affliction with senility goes back into my youth. i think i was 13yo at the time and i was dru......i'm mean imbibing a few drinks with my friend. we were in shack and when it was time go, i say "my hat, i can't find it?" my friend looks at me like i'm crazy. i say again "my hat. i can't find it?" my friend looks at me, then my hand and the he rolls on the ground laughing. i was going to beat him up, but the instant i raised my hands, i found the hat was in my hand. senility comes and goes for me.

I am still looking for a jig mold for about 10 years. That is my record time. I lost a lead ladle for 6-7 years. I got a out a clay target thrower and the ladle was in that box.
Laying something down and looking for it 10-15 minutes is nothing.

I was tearing the place up the other day looking for my blue Loctite. Couldn't find it for the life of me. Was at the hardware store bought another tube.
My grandson asked me for something and I opened the drawer where the item was and found my original tube of Loctite. Now I has 2 tubes to hunt for when the
    time comes.

The thing is I looked everywhere except that drawer. Which happens to catchall drawer. I have a bad habit of hiding something from myself.

maybe it's not senility. i was working in my gun room and putting up some shelves. i laid my tape measure on top of my projector press just as the phone rang. i made a mental note that i had put the tape measure on the top of the press and to remember that. when i got off the phone call, i could NOT find the tape measure. i looked at the press at least ten times, and it was NOT there. i looked at the ceiling and said out loud, "ok, very funny. put the tape measure back." i looked down and the tape measure was sitting on the top of the press.
    maybe your shop is haunted.

Once upon a time I got the bright idea to paint all my found items with BRIGHT orange paint....the problem now is that when I look in my shop....I see a sea of orange.

This scares me. We moved to our new house, long distance move, in August of last year. My new shop will be complete in 2-3 weeks and I will start moving everything from storage to the shop. What I will have trouble finding causes great concern.

Was out working on the deck I'm building , I go from one end to the other to get a hammer and wander around the garage looking looking for my level.

Guy up the street was getting all worked up. I asked what was wrong , he said he had trimed the same board three times and it was still to short.

I KNOW I have a small brass& leather headed hammer. I know it is out there. Spent 2 1/2 hours looking for it today. Gave up and used a ball pein gently. No doubt the next time I need a ball pein it it will magically appear.

The best way I've found for things like that to turn back up is buying a replacement.

It works every time, for example:
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with a 2nd Hornady AP shell plate for .38/.357.

Have found that as long as I am looking for it I won't find it. Days later there it is in plain view.

Happens to me all the time, it's not age. I have a playful spirit (poltergeist) living here that may have passed away young and resents that I've aged past retirement years That's my story, and I'm sticking with it, Now WHAT was I just saying?

Last year I bought a 24 stick package of BAC lube. About a week latter I needed some and looked for it for 2 days and finally gave up and ordered another package. When it came I got out the stick I needed and put the rest on the shelf, right on top of the package I couldn't find.

It's names. I keep losing names. I see people in the hallways I've known for thirty years and I can't remember their names! The grandkids
come over and I have to run down the whole list of names before I can remember just which kid this is. Funny thing is I can remember my mother and my grandmother doing the same thing. Must run in the family!

We must be related, I'm the same way, only worse.

Of course, they have just fallen off the bed, into the 6" space between bedside and wall, so I check there, nope! I get a spare pair, and look again, not there, I get a flashlight just to check the darn corners, nope. I then suppose I deviated from routine and laid them elsewhere, I so check "elsewhere". Not to be found. So I have a cuppa to sharpen the old brain cells and take a break before resuming the hunt, starting over by checking where they should have been, nothing. So I speak out loud and say " Ok, Mr poltergiest that lives here, that's a really good joke, you got me, now could I have my glasses back, please? ". I was laying across the bed, staring at the spot the glasses would have fallen, where I have searched now about four times and slowly my eyes focused on my glasses, right there! All I'm saying, is try asking nicely for your items back, might work!
Had that happen many times. I knew where I put it but it wasn’t there.four or five days later it was right where I looked at least 6 or 7 times.

Seems I always knew where my things were when in a big clutter. When I got tired of the clutter,I organized everything. Now I can't find anything. Of all the things I lost in life. I miss my mind the most.

I've been told that if you make sacrifices to Murphy he'll be appeased and stop that, but not tried it.
