I went through a very similar situation when I started loading the .44 Colt Original.
Of course my project was a little bigger than the .22, but basics are the same.
I put together a pdf. for anyone wanting Ideas on crimping heel based bullets.

I used an FCD for a 7.62 Mauser.
BTW I went to the sled meet at Nisswa, MN once ~25 years ago, I was very impressed by the Trailmaker. (And a bunch of others)
