    Interesting Contender frame - questions

I have an original Contender frame - it is not a Gen 2.

Unusual part is that it is stainless and smooth sided, no Puma stamp or anything. Do any of you know anything about these frames? I have not seen another like it.

I understand that they were sold “in the white” for folks that wanted to have their own engraving or finishing work done to them. Are you sure it’s stainless?

Like JimB, have never encountered a stainless 1st Gen frame but do own an SSK custom job with a matte Armalloy finish that could be mistaken for bead-blasted stainless.

Cool chart, thanks. Makes mine a first quarter 1994, about when I bought it, with a stainless 300 Whisper barrel. It does have the Puma on both sides. I had never been a Contender man, but the combination of a stainless frame and factory availability of the 300 Whisper piped me aboard.

The stainless tell is the S serial number prefix, as indicated in the handgunhunt.com chart.

Well it’s awfully cool, and probably released for the same reason I just wasn’t aware that they’d done it with stainless.
