Delrin rod: no chamber mopping, no jag...

    Hi

A few years ago, I got splitted Starline 45-90 brass because of a wet chamber

I then used a mopping rod to clean the chamber after the Delrin rod and patches( one or two wet and then one dry).

Way too long ... Way too clean ... Being the spotter and the shooter, I was short of time, having less time to look for the wind changes ...

Since a few years, I make just ONE (1) pass with the Delrin rod: one wet for the first and a dry at the back of the rod to mop the bore only.

Moreover, I made some kind of jag at the end of the Delrin rod, with no brass bumping on the crown.

Just a way to make it easier...

Nice modification you did on that rod.

Where did you buy the Delrin rod from? A man used to sell them but he passed away and I have not been able to find anyone that sells Delrin rods in .45 caliber

Thanks, I just placed an order with Sycamorestations. I’d given up trying to find a Delrin rod for my .45-70.

    Thank you !

Just Delrin to get the rod back in !! No brass kicking on the crown !!

And please note the "black line" on the rod...

This is the limit to introduce the rod ( with a patch with Wonderlube ) from the muzzle to to "prep" the barrel, without getting into the chamber, for the first shot !

I then save one shot !!! Or I hope so ...

I use a flexible Delrin Rod with a cotton to clean and the chambers of all my single shots ... shooting black powder. At matches have a plastic tray in front of the muzzle ... Just Push The Dirty Ones In

In the USA I buy raw Delrin rod stock from McMaster Carr. Make rods and jags on my little bench lathe.
