I shoot the same revolver and your bullet of choice works well. I use a red dot sight. Near book max loads with A2400 are very accurate for me. I am only telling you my experience.

My best/most accurate load in my 8" Colt Whitetailer is with Blue Dot. Work up as lighter lods didnt shoot as well. But its the best this gun ever shot.

I shoot this 180 gr Cast Performance boolit in my 6" 686 no dash and it is scary accurate at 1220's fps. Like dhom, I load Alliant 2400 powder but have had good results with H110 but it has a LOT of flash and blast. The new 11FS from Accurate, is a near H110 powder without the excessive flash and where I starting out loading a combo like this again, I would give it a try and use magnum primers just like H110. In MHO, the 180 gr is the best weight for hunting with a 357.

Aside from hbwc at close range, all my magnum long barrelled revolvers are most accurate with magnum loadings. Maybe I need to get a couple gas checked molds so I can push the envelope again.

My Dan Wesson likes a bunch of 2400 and a 180 gr XTP, for collecting, probably have enough.

Accurate 36-180F over 14.1 gr Lil Gun gives me 1,250. Nice load for throwing around steel.
