now I have been told that all new lead comes from CHINA, and that they will no longer export it to the USA.
This could be true, or not.

who told you that about china no longer exporting. I would expect if that true market price would go through the roof

There is still plenty of lead in Canada and Mexico. And South America.

Until I started sizing and PC my boolits, I mined the lead out of my pistol barrels. LOL

If you cant find a shooting range to dig for bullets do what I did when I was hard up for lead. First junk yards; do it yourself auto salvage yards. you can pluck your wheel weights and pay min. prices. Second; trap/skeet ranges. try and locate old abandon skeet ranges or ones that are still open. Turkey shoots too. I dug and slused with my garden hose, 100's of lbs of shot.

Wheel weights are getting scarce everywhere. Most state are outlawing them. A lot of states won't let private citizens buy lead from scrap yards.
I do still find some around at a reasonable price.
I have bought lead online. Buying bulk WW's from some places you get them as they do. not sorted so you pay for a lot of crap.
The Captain sells range lead at a fair price. $1.05 per lb. in 50 lb. lots = $52.50 + $15.05 shipping = $67.55. It's not what you were paying but it's not to bad. These are ingots ready to put in your casting pot.

If there's a pistol range near you and you can get there when it's closed, walk out to the berm and you'll find a lot of spent slugs lying on the ground.
Go to the thread below and you will find all the info you need to mine and smelt into useable product. It's NOT easy but it IS worthwhile. People rag on me when they see me mining the berm but I shut them down when I explain that I have enough lead to cast 60,000 45 caliber boolits or 120,000 9mm boolits. And if they have to buy them, they will pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000 !
Which I get to shoot for FREE !
THAT shuts them up RIGHT NOW.
Actually, currently my stash NOW I can cast a QUARTER MILLION BOOLITS.
    Just sayin'.
And I have a MAGMA BULLETMASTER which will turn out 2200 bullets per hour.
It aint braggin' if you can do it.
