    Swaging A HP ?

    OK I have a nice Savage 25 in 25 Hornet ( was a 22 Hornet )

I was thinking of using a 70 - 75 gr HP cast bullet for groundhogs
But I already have a round nose .260 2 cavity GC 70 gr mold I made for it and it shoots great at 1300 FPS
I have been casting a pure lead nose and Lino shank of the bullets
This mold is for powder coating , no grease grove
As I am planning on hunting squirrels with that bullet

So rather that cutting a new new mold with HP pins and trying to get as much of a spire point as I could
I am worried about ME being able to get the HP pin correct and the spire point the way I want
Without having to cut the mold a bunch of times till I did

Would it work better to take some of the cast bullets I am casting now
And swage them into a spire point with a hollow point ?

Would a small diameter hollow point pin hold up ?
I swage larger diameter bullets with hollow points now
But those hollow point swage pins are much larger

    Thanks
    John

It should hold up fine provided the bullet if soft lead. I make all my .22s HP with the die set I have.
