I want to shoot my gas checked 180 and 150gr in 308w at higher speeds. Lyman calls for 335/3031 for both weights but I don't have either of those powders I do have 8lbs of AA2230. Anyone substituted AA for those other 2 powders.

I use AA2230c but do not remember the loads in 308. Do you have the Accurate load data book? If not I will look in the morning and post a picture.

Do you own a accurate reloading manual. I looked at mine and it doesnt list it in 308. But does say it is for medium rifle cartridges

I often wondered about accurate load data they have all kinds of cast load data for 2520 but none for 2230 or other powders.
might shoot them an email and see what they say about cast loads using 2230
I have 2230c, it is just a tad slower than 2230, they say to use data for next speed powder. Anyhow , it works very well in my 7.62x39 Ruger NO1 with 169 to 200 gr bullets. Getting 2050fps and good accuracy with the NOE Ed Harris bullet, 169 gr in my alloy. Groups all touching for 5 at 50 and about 1 1/4 inch for 5 at 100. Note, I HATE shooting bench groups, so consider that I am not good at it and find it boring, a good bench man could do better.
It also works well in my 30 remington with all the 170-190 gr bullets, they are all open sight so quoting groups is pointless. Anyway, good velocity with no leading or surprises. It was CHEAP too when I bought it. Intending to use it for NMC competition in my 308 bolt gun but accuracy was not as good as AA2495. Talking 600yard prone, and only a couple points difference, but it matters in that field!
Oh, AA4064 is an awesome cast powder too!
