Those who would trade freedom for safety deserves neither and will lose both
Lyman burn rate chart says #33 VV N340 #34 Imr Sr4756 #35 IMR 800X . Gp
Great powder, along with sr7625. I called Hodgdon and asked about a replacement for 7625 and was told titegroup. As far as 38 special and 9mm. What are you using it for? I worked up a load for Lyman 358477 150 grn swc of 4.9 grns of 4756. I’ve also use HP-38/win231 4.7 grns with the same boolet. I would think you could probably use titegroup also. It really depends on what you use it for.
Long, Wide, Deep, and Without Hesitation!
Nevermind i though i seen 4759 ...bad eyes kicking my butt

Using in 357 158 lead coated. Out of a gp100 scoped. Best groups I ever shot . Been shooting for 40+ years.
isn't shooters world buffalo rifle powder supposed to be something like 5744 and at much less cost, might be worth trying some anyway.
It would be helpful for the OP to indicate which cartridges he wants to load for. With all the thread drift going on here I don't know whether he is asking about handgun ammunition or rifle. For standard pressure handgun loads such as the .38 Special, .44-40, .44 Special and .45 Colt cartridges Bullseye, TiteGroup, HP38 and W231 are all good choices, but not direct grain-for-grain or volume-for-volume substututes for SR7625.
As for a RIFLE powder to substitute for SR4759 in cases similar to the .45-70 and .44-40 rifles there is no direct substitute, but some people report good results with 5744. I never had good results with it and VERY MUCH prefer Alliant RL7 in those applications.
The ENEMY is listening.
HE wants to know what YOU know.
Keep it to yourself.
Look at post 8
From what I understand "Buffalo Rifle" by Lovex is 5744 I use the 5744 data with Buffalo rifle and have no problems. Gp
I found Herco to be very close, WSF is another but discontinued now
to be clear we are talking about SR 4756 that the OP asked about

4756 and 7625 were both great powders and I agree gave great results in 357 and 38 special. I tried all the other powders in that burn range and could not equal 4756. On the lighter side of the 357 velocities and the higher side of 38 special, Hp-38 is my go to powder for accuracy. I am trying HS-6 right now on 357 but not getting what I want on midrange loads. Check the books for Blue Dot in the 357. Pain in the xxx to measure but gave me great accuracy with 158 cast.

So why was 4756 and 7625 discontinued? Does any one know?
