Thread: I checked the twist today and was shocked.

    Wow, that's significantly longer. No wonder you blew the end of the case off! Perfect for using the Lapua 47mm cases, 30x47. Now that I think about it, that cartridge would qualify for a "hunter" class rifle, which must have the case capacity of a 30-30. People have made wildcats for years to make those. But the rifle itself has a 3" wide forearm doesn't it from the looks of it. For a hunter class it can't be over 2-1/4".

    The photo makes me think you have a 308 1 1/2" round saw some of those made years ago sitting shoulder back on 308 round. Guys used the 308 Palma brass and set shoulder back.

    Clarification. I did not blow the end off the case it just flattened to the walls of the chamber with no length left to form much of a neck. Yes, the forearm is almost 3" wide.

    Here is a picture, I pulled the 6mm BR brass I fireformed out of the recycling.
