Yep ! Got a thing about snakes mate - secret weapon is a nice little 1866uberti 22 -full up with ratshot just dings the paint a bit inside - tried it with a shovel one time out in the bush - acted a bit slow - big ole red belly reared over and sunk his fangs into the shovel handle about two inches from my hand - a bear in the bedroom would be somethin else I reckon

A few years ago a fellow told me that the ultimate way to deal with a big poisonous snake was a weed whacker and a shotgun

really, why?

Not sure to be honest, starting in the 70's there was a drive to put most of the native species on no kill lists, including some sharks. Most the hunting/killing here was always introduced pests anyway. eg Hogs, goats, camels, donkeys, buffalo, feral cattle, wild horses, deer. many are plague levels so its open season, no bag limits 24/7, all year.
