I have never recovered a cast boolet from a deer or any other animal. Some have been stem to sturn hits. Load in a 44mag is a 240 grain Keith style over 18 grains 2400. In a 45 Colt it is 260 grain rnfp over 18 grains of 2400.

I read an article many years back about a guy who recovered a solid bullet from an Elephant that was still in good shape except for the rifling grooves in it, so he loaded it again and used it on a second Elephant hunt several years later.
