    Bore guide for Marlin 45-70

    Hello all,
Does anyone know of a manufacturer who would make a suitable bore guide for an 1895 Marlin? I think I've checked all my usual places and no one shows one.
Any help and direction much appreciated,
    Rick

Do you mean a non marring crown protector so that you can run a cleaning rod from front without damage to muzzle? I have one that fits .500, but might fit .457. On 45 Colt and 44-40 I drill the center of the HDPE packing ring that comes on some of the rods Midway USA sells. If you mean bore guides that keep alignment of reamers and such, that should be available through the tool maker.

I have a brass one on my rifle cleaning rod, came with the rod just can't remember the make. Not a cheap one, one piece SS with revolving handle.
I think the cleaning people sell them, looks like a cone with a hole in it.

It is very easy to take the lever and bolt out of the Marlin action and clean from the rear. I even had a bore guide made for my Marlin 336 that takes the place of the bolt to guide the rod down the center of the bore. Possum Hollow makes them for less than $20.00 when I bought mine. MidwayUSA has them. james

Brownells used to carry a nylon / delrin bore guide manufactured by "Burt's Bore Guide" (I have one). It appears Brownells no longer lists one.

Like TNsailorman said, remove the lever & bolt & you can clean from the breach.

Grafs' has listed a "P.H. Bore guide for Marlin 1895 .45-70", but it shows out of stock....

This is probably what I"m looking for. I like to clean my Marlin rifles from the breach end. I have the 30 and 35 calibers handled but for the larger bores I need one with a bigger hole.
    Thanks for the help,
    Rick
