    substitution, factory ammo

my 357 loves the remington 158 grain swc 38 special target box ammo. Can never find it online, so was wondering if there was a way to get an alternate that would shoot the same.

Sounds like the perfect reason to reload for it.

I shot a lot of the soft Speer 158 gr SWC loaded to light 38 special target levels in the 80s - 90s with wonderful results . But you're going to need to load your own , it's not overly complicated , & with a little investment your set for life shooting your 38s .

My standard everyday load for my S&W Model 15 in 38 Special is 3.8 grains of Bullseye under a 158 - 160 grains lead swc. It runs about 850-900 fps. If I was loading 357 Magnum with the same bullet I'd go up 10% on the powder charge = @ 4.2 grains of Bullseye, of course in a 357 case. I don't shoot 357 magnum; so this is just what I would start with in a 357 load.

In my revolvers in 38 4” barrel length 3.6 grains Bullseye obtains right around 800 fps over the chrono and essentially duplicates 38 standard velocity 158 grain loadings. With appropriate bullet is also quite accurate.

Learn to reload at least. You can get a complete one caliber setup for around $200-250 and will be set for life. If your kids want to shoot they will be as well. If you want you can pick up casting as well but I'd buy cast PC'd boolits from one of our vendors to start. Stock up on primers and powder when you can and keep that stocked up. If you choose to use Bullseye two pounds will last you quite a while.

Was wondering what was going on. It looked like he was just trying to get enough posts for S&S , I quit playing to see how it played out. Didn’t take as long as I expected!
