My dad had a Houston area gunsmith chamber/rebarrel in .217 Ackley in December 1967. Thank you for your assistance.

Additionally, I wanted to say hi, new to the forum! I just realized my previous thread did not post. If any of you have an idea about this rifle your help is greatly appreciated! It's been locked in a gun safe for the past 30 yrs or so, and i have 143 rounds of ammo on hand.

    .

    Welcome to the board !

In viewing the rebated action bottom line to the rear if the trigger guard, I believe you have a sporterized Hollis Martini.

The Braendlin-Trantor & the Greener Martini actions have a straight action bottom line.

Thank you, I was wondering what it was. There are very few markings since it is a rebarrel. The new barrel is dated 12.67 with the gunsmith's initials under the fore end. This rifle has spent most of it's life in a safe.

The style is typical of Belgian made Martinis ,so it could be any of the mentions with the exception of BSA.Braendlin Armory were major suppliers of Belgian made guns .

I am trying to search and figure it out. My dad never told me the name, but was possibly in the Pasadena area. Here is a pic of the initials SWGS. This could be something like "SW Gun Shop" although I cannot find anything on Google.Click image for larger version.

Belgian action .Most English makers bought these actions in the white ,chambered and barreled the or bought them semi finished.I have a TAndrews with the identical action in 360No5 Rook ,although it's marked 380Rook ,slugging the barrel tell me its a 360.Basically the same cartridge but one uses an inside lubricated projectile and the other a heeled affair.
