I think my thinking is off a tad.

When I first started loading slugs,it was the Lee slug. In a shot cup, with a card underneath for column height. 20 ga card in 12 ga cup. Now I have graduated to a full bore slug. But..should I continue to use a smaller card or go to the same size as the gauage? Since there is no cup, using a brush wad instead. Using a smaller card, it wallers around in the hull.

When I refer to a card, ..fiber with cork disc to adjust column height.

A little more info. Federal 20 gauge hull from bpi.28 ga fiber wad vs 20 ga fiber wad. When the 20 ga wad is used, it is tight fit, makes the slug a loose fit. 28 ga wad, slug is tight in hull, but wad is loose from side to side.
