    Thumbs up LEE 4# pot

I do have a Master Caster 40# pot ,,, but some times I just need a small test batch,, enter the LEE 4# pot , one of the best buy's i'v ever made. Have a few pounds of " old " cast bullets of different sizes & weights w/ some kind of black lube ( looks like used motor oil , very ,very nasty ). The little pot heats up quick , add a few rds. at a time , poured 12# of Lyman bricks ( will test for hardness in a day or two ). I also use it to preheat my moulds when casting by hand ( dipping out of Master Caster) ,, yes sir very handy .

I have found the same with my little 3lb Potter. Its currently being utilized for my harder lead for rifle rounds where I don't produce very many at a sitting. Being so small the warm up to pour temp is relatively fast and when I do want to mess with another alloy sample its easy to heat up and clean out.

I keep my 4 pound pot for the anticipation of making soft nose hunting bullets. I used it a while but finally upgraded to the 20 pound magnum melter.

My Lyman big dipper fills this same roll. I started with it and a Lyman ladle , and I still use both but typically for short runs of say less than 50 for testing a new mold . My six cavity lee is strictly bottom pour from a lee pro 4-20

I have kept pure or near pure in mine for casting fishing jigs and muzzle loader round balls. That old pot is nearly 50 years old as I don't get it out much
any more but it still to this day works like a champ. I have cast piles of bullets over the years but it took a while and for years it was all I had.
