I mark the BHN on my ingots and store accordingly in my 2 ingots deep shelf unit.

I cast my pewter into .5 oz boolits for easier alloying and "sweetening" my casting pot

    GRMPS,
Since I just came into approximately 22 lbs. of pewter, this week, that I have yet to melt out. And would like to do as you are, 1/2 ounce size pieces or so. What ratio do you add to your pot to “sweeten” the mix?

What has a BNH of 3?

Just some various shapes for different alloys.

I also use a letter/number set to punch each ingot with contents...PEW/RL/WW/PB...etc.

I wanted to get through my smelting pot quicker in order to shorten the time to process my stock of casting lead so that lead (ha, ha) me to looking for a larger mold. Wilton had the perfect mold for me. Each "BRICK" is about 10 pounds and allows me to empty a pot quickly and they still fit and melt quickly in my Master Caster too.

I have exactly those same quadruple loaf molds.

Too big for my own pots, but practical for bulk storage of source metals. The final alloy, when made up, is poured into CastBoolit molds.

Most follow the rule of 1-2% Sn to your Pb/Sb mix. Sn lowers the surface tension and makes molds fill out better and smoother. More than 2% is a bit of a waste, and you do not have that much to waste!

I had to laugh at this one...how do you make a "Glamor Shot" out of a pile of lead??
    What??
Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I have to concede some photos are well composed and nicely done.

For my own case, if mass makes class, and too many dusty and neglected ingot buckets of lead biscuits and corncobs makes you drool, perhaps I should enter a snapshot too.
