Cut a SIZED and deprimed case 1/2 way, lengthwise, with a hack saw. Pre-flair the case mouth just enough (a tiny bit - maybe even only chamfer/debur the inside edge) to allow slight resistance to finger insertion of your flat based SWC (or other). Put the split case with slightly inserted boolit in the throat of the gun (with chamber locked open and muzzle down).

VERY SLOWLY release the slide. Gently close the action so that the main-spring tension and the barrel's rifling cause the loosely held boolit to slide back into the slotted case. Then SLOWLY reopen the slide. Gently extract the "dummy round", consisting of inserted SWC boolit in the slotted case.

Without changing its length, measure this dummy round as the absolute OAL in your chamber for THAT boolit. Make rounds slightly shorter, and as long as their diameters are sized, they should all chamber and load without fail.
