I used to get a wild hair and mix colors just for grins...then one day I accidently came up with a color that looked like 'Root Beer' and thought that this will be my standard color from now on. Problem was that I didn't write the mix down and I used red + black & some clear gloss...to this day I have not been able to copy that color again...'how frustrating'!

Now I use the black + white and get what I call an 'old lead' and am happy with this...I never get the 'hue' exactly the same but the basic color is there, coverage is excellent and I still get the grins.

If I start with an empty bowl and do a 50/50 mix fresh...the color will be like the darker ones but if I just 'freshen up' a bowl and add a little the 'hue's' are all over the map...hahaaa....

Slightly different finnishes using diferent media

Most yellows and whites don't coat well unless mixed with a little of something else

I add the powder together inthe bowl with the BB's , toss in the boolits (at least 12) then swirl to where the adhesion is good.
Often, blending powders, the more you use the mix the more it changes. IF you want repeatability us smaller quantities of powder and add between each batch of boolits

I also found that if you have a powder that doesn't cover great mixing it with another powder sometimes helps. I did this with some green and red because the green never turned out great coverage wise. it worked covered and is super strong but..... I call it Mudbutt if that explains the color I ended up with.

Thats my mix. Checked and used some yesterday.

Its not as smooth, (this batch) looks more like a bag a blk Cherries at Grocery. Some redder some blacker. Still pleasing to my eye just not a consistant color.

Its all in the humidity its mixed at. I double bag and remove all excess air from my powders. Then many are in a screw top GLAD container.

CW's right, a teaspoon of this and a teaspoon of that with 1/2 or 1/4 teaspon of another can do amazing things or fail bigtime.

Some powder flat refuse to play with others like SHERWIN WILLIAMS SILVER METALIC (nice with metalic flakes but it Doesn't blend well with other powders)

a little PC goes a long way

**note** don't try to swirl less that 12 boolits at a time, you need the volume to build static
