    Larger Bullets on Lyman 45

I am considering buying a Lyman 45 to size and lube all my bullets. The biggest caliber I will be sizing is 480 Ruger 400 gr. Is the Lyman 45 up to the task? I know if the bullet is too hard and too big, it won't work. If that's the case I can make an initial sizer to push it through on the reloading press kind of like a Lee sizer. But I want to final size and lube in a lubrisizer.

Why a model 45? the model 450 is much stronger and can be reasonably bought on the used market. I have a 45 that IO rarely use and 2 450s. One is my primary lubersizer.

Because I have friend wanting to trade me the Lyman 45 for an old RCBS Jr2 that I have laying around.

I don't think it would be a problem.

I have used a 45 for sizing .45-70 pills. It works fine but you don't want to honk hard. As you've probably read, handles on that machine have broken because the operator applied to much muscle.

You are exactly correct about not wanting to try sizing a way-oversize bullet or one cast of hard lead.
