Waiting to be tested for accuracy. Presently has One Ragged Hole blade, large. Not my cup of tea, will try smaller one. Locks cylinder like solid. Never seen anything like that, and I have/had at least couple dozen revolvers.

Technically this is my wifes... but we both shoot it from time to time. This is a 629-2 that I picked up in 1994, it is a Lew Horton production.
    Yes, it is a handful!

Derek, it seems like it the hit or miss with the 69, my shooting buddy and his brother bought at the same time from the same shop. Buddy has no issue and I have shot it and it’s been amazing, his brothers has been back to S&W twice and still not right.

That's sad. Makes me wonder about back in the pre-60's era how often a Smith and Wesson was sent back because it wasn't correct from the factory.

4 inch S&W 629-3, small Pachmayr Presentation grips. It is accompanied by a JM-stamped Marlin 1894 44 mag with Ballard rifling (with 2.5x Weaver Japan mfg scope, very clear/sharp image).

I can't speak to the pre-60's but when I worked the gun counter in the mid seventies, we sent 4 out of nine Model 28's back. One had a 41 Mag barrel! Bangor Punta was shoveling guns out the door faster than they could make them.

Thus far with 500 rounds down my M69 I have yet to have an issue. I have shot a mixture of specials, mild/moderate mags, max data mags, and a few above max data mags.

A friend of mine bought a M69 around the same time I did and has yet to have any issues as well.

The only thing I have noticed is they didn’t chamfer the muzzle so the lands and grooves have very sharp edges. Not sure if it’s designed that way or a missed step in the manufacturing process.

The only modification I have done is install the Wilson Combat spring kit.

The bantam grips from Hogue don't tame the recoil as much as the Pachmayrs

The ‘98 Bull - trigger tuned and a li’l polish job, return spring shortened 1.5 coils, and hammer spring shortened 2 coils. Smooth as butter and 2.5” groups at 50 yards.

I was selling guns from 73 to 76, then got my own FFL and ran to 1992. Sold a ton of S&Ws to Law enforcement agencies and the public. Yea there is always a couple glitches but in general no major problems with S&W. Few from Ruger and Colt either. Last batch of police guns sold were 686s. I was out when they all went to autos.

    29-2 owned since 1984.

My first .44 mag was this Great Western. Overall it was a pretty good sixgun.
