    Marlin Model 80DL

I saw the old thread about the model 81DL Marlin, so I thought I would post photos of my Model 80 DL. Bought it from a high school friend 50 plus years ago. I think I gave him $25.00 for it, but don't hold me to that.

Years ago I refinished the stock and had the barrel and receiver re-blued. Used to live in the country, and a neighbor and I used to shoot .22's all the time. It shoots a lot better than I can hold. It came with a little Weaver 4x-3/4" diameter scope that I finally removed and replace it with a 1" tube 4x Weaver scope. My eyes are really bad, so I recently put a Leupold 3 x 9 Freedom rimfire scope on it. It's really clear.

The rifle will shoot a lot better than I can hold, without a doubt.

    Have a blessed day,

    Leon

Your post about your Marlin 80 DL .22 rimfire brought back memories for me!
In early 1961, at the grand old age of 13, I began the agonizing job of convincing my parents that I was old enough to own a .22 rimfire rifle and
by late summer my dream came true. With lawn mowing money I had earned, I gave my mother $ 24.00 for a check she mailed to General Merchandise Co. in Milwaukee, WI. after we together completed the order form for a Marlin 80 DL rifle.
The rifle arrived in early October 1961 and was delivered to me at our home, with the invoice made out to me- WOW, imagine the US government now allowing a 14 year old to receive a rifle in the mail! My father set the rules- it could not leave the house unless he was with me. We enjoyed many enjoyable times target shooting/plinking.
I still have that rifle which is very accurate and it came with a peep rear sight which was soon replaced with a scope.
Thanks for posting Ole Joe Clarke!!

My dad shot in a league started by VFDs in late 40s and early 50s. He used a Marlin with peep sights. My Bro has it and I think it’s a M80, I have a Marlin in trade pile that is a 80 or 81. They are accurate rifles. Dads was clip feed and would shoot LR-L-S. Most guys at the time just back from WW2 and starting families. There were a lot of Marlin and Mossberg 22s in those teams because of the lower price. A $1 was a $1 back then.

These old Marlin rimfires are extremely accurate. Owned one for 30 years.
