How many lbs of pins for wet tumbler?

I've been wet tumbling now for at least 5 years with a poor mans 2 quart set up ($1 garage sale thumbler tumbler and a 5lb pasta sauce jar)

Long story short I've built a 8 gallon set up out of 6"x20" (I think) sched 40 PVC, obviously not filling it all the way up how many lbs of media would you use.

I have 5lbs on hand already that I've been using and ordered another 10lbs....wondering if that is enough. Will probably run it with 3.5- 4 gallons of water

I built some really big wet tumblers for a manufacturer, they didn’t use any pins at all.

They didn’t want to waste effort polishing the insides of cases that will never be seen? How self aware!

Is this to mean that J “the tool man” Morris doesn’t use pins either?

Yeah, the stainless steel chips from Southern Shine is much better than the pins.
