Dont like trappers - used to but now by time I put the sight fur enough down the barrel to see em - I need a longer tube
Have a 26inch barrel 92 that I like a lot - we have rapid fire events at out local club - I pretty much owned it for a good number of years and always did better shooting fast with a 66 rifle than any carbine I tried.
I reckon the "short barrel=fast handling" thing is more myth than reality - unless youse tangled up in a blackberry bush or something
Favourite lever gun for me - is the one I have in my hand when you ask the question - got a few to choose from so its all fun............................................
Original Winchester 1892 rifle in 25-20 and another original 1892 carbine in 44 WCF. Both well-used but like new inside with mint bores and almost all of the original finish. Great shooters and both love cast boolits. Old eyes made using the open sights difficult so I installed vintage tang sights (they were factory drilled and tapped for tang sights). Problem solved. I recently became the owner of a vintage NIB Browning 92 lever action in 357mag carbine; I didn't think that I would ever like a made in Japan (miroku) gun, but I have to say that this "Browning" made in Japan lever gun is as good as or better than any of my original Winchester 1892's.....I just wish that these came in 25-20, 32-20 or 44 wcf...
Marlin 336 is my choice, I have shot one for years and it has always treated me
Good. There are other prettier rifles, but the Marlin is old faithful to me.
Because I paid for all of these they are all my favorites.

73' Winchester in .44wcf, because versatility and high magazine capacity with 24" barrel.
My favorite is a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem, that was handed down from my dad when passed. He carried it for God only knows how long, and never killed anything with it. I have taken deer and a bunch of hogs with it. It allows me to hunt with my dad in his absents
My Rossi M1892 in .45 Colt. With 18.5/2400/250 gr. RNFP, it carries authority to well past the range at which I can hit with it.
If they weren't as scarce as high-end gemstones (and priced similarly), I'd look around for a BLR in .358 Winchester. With one of these, I could take anything on the continent.

The thing that I find interesting about levers is they are unencumbered by aftermarket doodads. No magazine, no optics ect. I really enjoy the pistol caliber carbines, in particular the Winnie 92s.
Simple and classy.
Marlin 39M. Not a centerfire, so no brass to pick up and cheap ammo. Shoot more, spend less.
I have COWBOY RIFLES in 22LR, 30 30, 357, 44, and 45 70.
My long time favorite was a standard 1894 in 44 magnum; cut to 16.25 inch barrel, with a LYMAN receiver sight.
I made the mistake of giving it to my step son...who traded it off!
I'm finally warming up to my Marlin 1894S 44mag, since I fitted a locking bolt properly.
