TURN - a great Revolutionary War series on Netflix

A short time ago, someone posted here about the show on the Sons of Liberty.

My wife and I have been watching "TURN" on Netflix - this is a series and there are four seasons of it on Netflix. It is about the New York area (at least season one) and the setting up of General Washington's spy network that operated during the Revolutionary War. If you enjoy history and that time period, it is a good "watch". Easy to get wrapped up in and a great story line.

When you look it up, the title "TURN" will have the "N" shown in reverse.

I'm a sucker for that kind of series. Worth watching and they did truly try to stay historically accurate. Loved the characters especially Capt Simcoe and Major Rogers

I tried watching it about 5 years ago when it was on AMC I think. Lost interest after a few episodes!

Saw the whole thing several years ago on AMC. Excellent period piece with a lot of real history woven in.

Another good one on the big N is The Last Kingdom about pre-England Europe and all the many battles. Really GOOD bloody battles! Check that one out too!

That is one of my favorite shows, the villains are super easy to hate, the main characters are easy to like. It’s a very good show! I have watched it at least 3-4 times

I saw Capt. Simcoe on an episode of "DCI Banks" on Amazon Prime recently. The character on that show was every bit as despicable as Capt. Simcoe, but the voice wasn't quite as whiney.

I normally enjoy historical dramas, but for some reason, I just didn't like this one.
    Not sure why.

We share the same taste in programming. Simcoe's real life included moving to Ontario area after the Revolutionary war and becoming Governor of Upper Canada. He did much loved by the citizens there. He was according to most sources portrayed accurately in the series.

TURN is based on a book written by Alex Rose who wrote American Rifle. Which is a history of the USA based on rifles used at various times. It is a great read.

I lost interest when it was new but I think that was because I would miss an episode here and there went and rewatched not binging but couple episodes a day every couple days and loved it well worth the time imo

I'm reading "War on the Run" about Robert Rogers right now. It is good.
