    Rossi 92 — 44 Magnum to 45 Colt conversion

Okay, I just bought a stainless Rossi 92 carbine in 44 Magnum. I have a 454 Cassul barrel and tubular magazine assembly. I am nearly certain that the 44 Magnum can be converted to 45 Colt — by swapping the two named devices that using ONLY 45 Colt ammunition and handloads, or by turning the 454 Cassul barrel's chamber down then rechambering to 45 Colt and swapping.

My Missoula gunsmith, Kris Bonner (Accuarms), is backed up for nearly a year. If the information I presented in paragraph one is accurate, I need to find someone who can complete conversion within a reasonably short time. Anyone who can furnish CONTACT information for my conversion, please let me know on this thread or messaging through this web site.

Why not simply buy a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt? Seems that would be cheaper and less headaches.

The bolt face should work but the extractor may not fit..........

I believe that the 454 barrel had a much faster twist rate then the 45 Colt barrel. 20" vs 38"
I bought the 24" SS octagon 45 Colt. I really wish that I had bought a 480 when they were all over GunBroker

I'd like to find a 16" stainless .357 but they seem to be unobtanium now. May have to settle for a blue .44.

Steve Young informed me that my query basis was inaccurate. Conversion is not a simple swap of parts. I now have a nice 44 Magnum 92. And still seeking a 45 Colt stainless steel Rossi 92 ONLY face-to-face in Montana.

Gotta buy a lifetime's supply of 300-grain 44 Magnum ammunition.
