Anyone have any experience with KAL adjustable molds?
I have one in .45 caliber and one in .44. I think they are both the “TGBS” type. Workmanship and finish leave nothing to be desired.
I put a hex nut on the adjustment screw of the .45 to make doubly sure the adjustment wouldn’t move. There is a tiny set screw that loosened in one casting session. No problems with the .44 that way.
Ease of cleanup is, of course, compromised by that screw sticking out the bottom, which accumulates lead in the course of casting, but a lot of moulds with protruding handle screws, stop screws, nose-pour plates and other lumps&bumps have the same issues. Nothing to seriously interfere with the quality and quantity of product.
These are the Good Old Days of custom mould making, and Red River Rick is right in there; a shining example of the best.
