Light Jword loads in 6.5 Swede with Unique, Herco or Blue dot?

Hey guys, avid 6.5 Swede shooter here. I am looking for user imput on loading 100gr Jwords with Unique, Herco or Blue dot.

I came across an article where a guy said he loaded 24gr of blue dot under a 100gr partition. That sounds a little spicy to me.

I have 500 Lapua 100gr cutting edge bullets that have proven to be insanely accurate in testing. I'd like to load them light with the above mentioned powders for a plinking load. Their bc is so poor I don't see any point in pushing them fast & my slow 4350 rate powders are already consumed as fast as I can pull the press handle.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I would try 10 grs of Unique and work up from there. I have zero Herco and Blue Dot experience. I ran a 25-06 with cast using Red Dot but you didn't mention it.

I found the 10gr Unique thread, I think I'll try that first. It seems that loading is more proven than Bluedot.

I wonder what would be safe to work up to in the 6.5 Swede using unique? In the Unique thread it seems that some guys with similar sized cases are going up to abour 15gr..

How slow are you expecting to run them at?

Honestly I dunno. I am mainly looking to reduce the amount of powder I'm burning for practice.

I loaded up a few over 10 & 11 grains of Unique. I will report back with chrony readings in the next few days.

If you want reduced loads just use H4895. Seem to work great in the rifles I have tried it in. Type in H4895 reduced loads and Hodgdon’s site w/ give you their formula.

    Enjoy.
