Anyone shooting the RCBS 44-300 SWC

Greetings fellow shooters. Was wondering if anyone is shooting the RCBS 44-300 SWC.

How does it perform at distance?

Does the longer bearing surface make it more forgiving in load development?

We are looking to do a run on a multi caliber cherry that will run a 434, 454 and 460 SWC GC and PB boolit.

    What are your findings?

Have the mould and highly recommend it. Mould drops one PB and one GC bullet. It was hollow pointed by Eric. Use it in my Marlin 1894 carbine. Can keep five rounds, inside of 2 MOA, at 100 yards. Using it as my current hunting bullet.

Recovered bullets from my backyard sand berm. Alloy is three parts lead to one part lino. Sized .432

I have one as well it's good in my model 29 but too long in my H&R handy rifle with its slower twist rate. The Handi rifle is a tack driver with the MP 503 clone.
Oh great, another thread that makes me spend money.

I have the Lee 300gr 44 mold. It is very accurate in my SBH, not so much in my Marlin 1894. The Marlin's twist is too slow (maybe leftover from 44-40 days?).

Do you notice a difference between the gas checked bullets and the plain based ones, or does your Marlin seem to handle them both the same?

Not that big of difference. Although, I usually reserve the PB bullets for revolver and the GC for the carbine. HP's require softer alloy, hence the GC in the carbine...........insurance against leading. Carbines will gain @ 200 more fps, over a revolver with the same load.

    Winelover,

How hard would you go on a large hp? I always appreciate your input.

My HP alloy is three parts lead to one part lino. That's out of a carbine. Go softer for revolver.
