Im using the Accurate 31-157R in my Marlin. 7 grains of Red Dot and its pretty accurate, no pun intended.

Thanks. This rifle is frustrating trying to find a bullet that chambers!

I do have seat mine pretty short. Same issue as you seem to have, no real leade or throat into the rifling. Still, I do love this gun. Picked it up new/unfired in Jan/Feb, made in 1990. Great wood, deep polished bluing.

Yes I do. 31-155J. I spec mine out at a .299 nose and body at .311 and size at .311. I use his coww for an alloy choice.
My actual alloy is 2 precent tin and 4 percent antimony. Chambers in dozens of Marlins and Winchester's that I know about.
    Very accurate.

holsterguy, Yes it is. I have shot it as low as 1000 and up to about 1850 give or take a little. It seems the nose is the hardest part of 30-30 fit. I have a Lyman 311291 with a .300 plus nose. If I crimp above the crimp groove into the front driving band it chambers fine just not as accurate because the lyman will not make 311 in my alloy. I had rather have a bullet crimped in the groove. That boolit is loosely based on the Lee 150 with some inprovements. I was worried the .299 nose might have a negative affect on accuracy, but it didn't actually quite the opposite. In Marlins and Winchester lever guns it is my most accurate boolit.
In bolt guns (Savage 340 and 840) the Lyman 173 disign is more accurate.

Thanks ABJ! This weekend I’ll take a couple measurements on my rifle. That boolit really sounds promising!
