At $4.50 a pound, I’d have to agree.

    Since the mid 1960's.
You know how you misplace something, give up looking for it, and buy another?
Well this one finally turned up.

My Dad had a box that he got from an old friend who died probably 35 years ago. dad never got around to using any of it, but there was 12 cans exactly like that one in it from Brownells with Dad's friend's mailing address on it. I cracked the seal on the first one the other day, works just like Unique made now.

It was mentioned in a gun magazine that Hecules kept a portion of of one of the first batches of Unique and part of that batch is still around and tested for pressure periodically. I called Alliant after reading this and spoke to a person who confirmed that they do have part of this batch left and test it for pressure. It is over 120 years old and still gives the same pressure readings. Apparently they keep it in a sealed container that is stored under water. The water makes it easier to maintain a consistent temperature

I have been using unique since 1967 when I discovered the magic load of 8 grains of unique under a 150 grain cast bullet in my C.I.L 840 (AKA Savage 340) bolt action 30-30.
