any one loading 44 mag with lil gun,

the other night I loaded some 200gr Hornady xtp's with 23 grains of lilgun, which is half way of load data in the Hornady manual,i checked the hodgdon sight later and their 200gr data does start till 27.5gr which is .4 over the max in hornadys book,my first time using lilgun and was wondering what other people were using for loads with 200gr

Hornady data is weak. I no longer use their book. You can trust Hodgdon.

I bought some LilGun for a .22 Hornet years ago and then used it up in .357 and .41 magnum. I used Hodgdon data and loaded them warm with jhp's. They were accurate and I took one deer with each caliber. If they shoot good, use them I always say.

LilGun has had its detractors due to forcing cone erosion.

IMHO it’s fine for heavy for caliber stuff. Not for the lighter weights. I literally sandblasted my forcing cone of a 57-1 using 170gr Sierras and LG before I knew better. It took 6 rounds.

I use Lil'Gun for 185 gr. loads in .357 Magnum for my Marlin rifles, where it gives a little over 100 fps more than the maximum charge of H-110/Win. 296 for the same bullet weight. I haven't used it in my revolvers, but I'm going to give it a try in my Ruger .32 H&R Magnum and Marlin .218 Bee when I get a chance.

    Hope this helps.
