.32-20 grouping

Just wondering what group size you all getting ? My problem is my eyes are not what they where, and I’ve spent the last 30+ years using scopes.
I’m getting 1” groups at 25m with my 1892 src but I know it’s my eyes and lack of open sight practice that is causing me the problem.
Just wondered what everyone else was getting

My eyes are 63 and my 32-20 is 103, the rifle is much better than I am now.

I'm presently lookin' at 70, and with the Marlin 1889, made in '93, iron sights at 100 yards I'm happy to be able to keep um in the 5 1/2" bull.
I hope to do better with the Winchester '92, rebarreled, and a tang sight.

I’m 55 and my Rifle is 92 sow we are both slightly younger than your combination .

My Cimarron (Uberti) Low Wall, with factory front (hooded post) and a Marble's tang rear sight will hold right at an inch at 50 yds. using a 115 gr. Lyman 311008 and is absolutely deadly on plastic pop bottles at 100. Btw, I'm 75 and in the process of recovering from open heart surgery so, not counting rimfires, the .32-20 and .22 Hornet are pretty much the only rifles in my (modest) collection that I'm allowed to shoot these days.

My Marlin CL1894 with a scope and a bench rest will do about 1.25" @ 50 with a 105gr cast bullet.
It does somewhat worse than that with open sights and me pointing it, but that's how it is usually used.

This is about a 3 inch group fired on an 8” plate at 100 yards with my mid 1900’s Model 92 in 32/20 WCF.


That is about the best I can do at 100 yards with “Open” iron sights (non aperture) at that distance.

I recently picked up a Russian Toz 22. This things open sights are amazing for my eyes. I can see both target and front sight in focus simultaneously! I can move focus from front sight to target and see no difference. There's something to the size and shape of the rear sight. Worth looking into.

Y'all know what sights Remington used on their 500 series? I could shoot as well with the open sights as I could with a scope. That was when my eyes were a lot younger. The last time I pointed 500 down range the group was 'disappointing'. I blamed it on the ammunition of course. Or the gun. Sight picture was not the greatest. I shall be trying it again sometime with different ammo but really, if the sights don't suit my eyes then I might not do any better.

My old Marlin 1894 rifle will do 1.5” at 50yds with rest and tang sight. My lookers are not as good as gun will shoot. Rifle was made 1914.

That's a good grouping I'm new with the 32-20,so I can't are much useful information I'm shooting a S.A. 5" cattleman revolver made by Uberti and getting a about the grouping as you are.

My 1894 does well with my 120g Lyman and PB @ 1" 50 yards.

My 23 does a bit better but has a 2x7 Leupold

My fun gun is a H&R custom withab SMLE bbl re chambered to 32/20. i love a MP 140HP ast bullet and 1680!!

My Browning 53 shoots about 3" with RCBS 32-98 SWC plain based cast boolits and 5.0 grains of Unique at 90 +- meters (100 yards for us dedicated imperialists)

I think you will find going to the 115gr RNFP will close up your groups. I wanted to use the 98gr myself but couldn’t get the accuracy out of it. We used 3 rifles, all originals Win 53, Mar 94 and Savage 23/ scope. Also loaded with Unique.

My old '92, now owned by my oldest son, had a sewer pipe for a bore so I had it re-lined. After I got it shot in and it settled down, 1 inch at 50 was not uncommon.....25 years ago. I expect the rifle will still do it. I have an 1889 Marlin ordered but I have no idea what the bore is like other than what the seller told me. From here and now, if I can get 1 inch at 25 I believe I'll be satisfied...maybe. The ol' 32-20 sure is a fun little cartridge, revolver or rifle. I have 3 revolvers so chambered, a Colt SAA from 1913, a Colt Army Special and a Ruger Buckeye. Fed right they all shoot.
